Verite La Joie 2010

98 – 99 points: “Monumental, age worthy Cabernet fruit reminiscent of a youthful Mouton or Laffite Rothschild 2000”

Verite is one of the most visionary efforts in California history as famed Bordeaux winemaker Pierre Seillan continues to attain new levels of balance of fruit and tannins that bode well for multiple decades of longevity. As Robert Parker noted (Wine Advocate #195): “La Muse is his verison of a Pomerol…,the La Joie is his Medoc look-alike from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and of course, Le Desir is a Sonoma clone of a St.-Emilion.” Not surprisingly, these Cabernet blends have soared to the top of California collector lists, surpassing more famous ‘Cult’ Wines that command higher prices yet receive lower scores.
