The Prisoner Merlot Thorn 2012
This new project from The Prisoner winemaking team is a welcome addition to an already outstanding portfolio. The Thorn offers up alluring notes of cherry, plum, with subtle hints of white pepper and sage. The palate is well-structured, indicative of the superior vineyards that are being sourced. Layers of black cherry, rich plum, and graphite-like minerality culminate in a lovely, persistent finish. This is meant for drinking in the near term over the next 3-5 years.
