Peay Pinot Noir Ama Estate 2012
This is a simply gorgeous example of the sumptuous nature of Pinot grown in the farthest wilds of Sonoma. The bouquet is rich with delightful floral notes. Silky, sweet tannins provide lively foundation for the elegant and ethereal pomegranate, cherry, cedar, and baking spice notes that are gloriously well-integrated. A wine of this caliber deserves another year or two in the bottle to really come together, but enjoy this evening with an hour of decanting. It will continue to age gracefully for another 7 years.
Peay Vineyards Winery
Peay vineyards was founded by brothers Andy and Nick Peay. While the fruit is sought after by some of the top names in California Pinot production, most goes into the terroir driven bottlings under the Peay label. After several vintages working at legendary Chateau Lafite-Rothschild in Bordeaux, and several more at California "Cult" winery Peter Michael, Vanessa Wong now crafts ethereal Pinot Noirs at Peay Vineyards in a remote corner of the Sonoma Coast.
