Paul Pernot Bienvenues Batard Montrachet Grand Cru 2019
This new Grand Cru arrival from Burgundy’s celebrated 2019 vintage is monumentally delicious. The texture is silky smooth with oh-so-refreshing fruit notes now synonymous with the top 2019 Grand Cru whites. Honeysuckle and gardenia on the bouquet lead to a cornucopia of sumptuous flavors including flaky croissant, toasted almonds, and caramel crème Brule. Hints of fresh tropical fruit (imagine grilled pineapple by the beach) and perfectly balanced creamy oak crescendo to a 60 second finish to ensure thrills now through 2030.
Paul Pernot Winery
No more than a stone's throw away from earth’s most prized white wine vineyard Montrachet itself, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet hails from the same family of incomparable white Burgundies. Surrounded by the vineyard of Bâtard-Montrachet, it is in fact the second smallest Grand Cru in all of Burgundy. In the Middle Ages, this vineyard was granted by the Lords to their Servants who ‘welcomed’ this generous gift, hence its name. The soil here is almost identical to that of Montrachet making the wines of this historic Grand Cru one of the most striking values in the world of fine wine.
