Mayacamas Chardonnay Mt. Veeder 2013

Presenting a lovely silky texture and a complex fruit profile, the 2013 Mayacamas is a serious wine in every sense of the word. The bouquet is fresh and lively, offering a bounty of lemon citrus, asian pear, and honeyed apple. The palate is rich and mouthcoating, but light on its feet, delivering focused layers of apples, yellow orchard fruit, honey, and a long, unctuous finish. Enjoy this stunner over the next 3-4 years.

Mayacamas Winery

Mayacamas Vineyards is located in the Mayacamas Mountains that divide the Napa and Sonoma valleys. Near the summit of Mount Veeder, the old stone winery was dug into the side of a dormant volcano crater in the late 19th century. Obsidian arrowheads and stone grain-grinding bowls found on the property bear silent testimony to Mayacamas' first human inhabitants, the Native Americans of the Wappo tribe. It is from the Wappo language that the name "Mayacamas" derives; believed to have meant "the howl of the mountain lion".
