Kenzo Cabernet Blend Napa Rindo 2018
Given the acclaim for Napa’s 2018 vintage and the pedigree of this Cabernet blend, we had high expectations. After sampling (twice) we were seduced by the trademark the texture (ULTRA silky smooth!) and captivating bouquet that includes lavender, sultry dark fruit notes and fresh walnut brownies. Hints of baking spices and semi-sweet dark chocolate on the mid palate are balanced gracefully by the firm tannins boding well for enjoyment over the next decade! 97 points now and well on the way to 98+ points after a bit of cellar time. Note: we recommend decanting one full hour if popping the cork prior to 2024.
Kenzo Estate Winery
Kenzo Tsujimoto first achieved success as the founder of Capcom, a Japanese developer and publisher of video games. During that time, he became enchanted with the Napa Valley after the historic 1976 Judgment of Paris, which launched Napa Valley wines onto the world stage. As Capcom’s business expanded into the United States, Kenzo sought a serene location to offer an outdoor alternative to the company’s indoor electronic sporting business. His affinity for California wine country and vision to build an outdoor retreat led him to a 3,800-acre mountain valley in Napa’s southeast corner.
