Castiel Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mtn. 2018
Hailing entirely from the rocky, elevated slopes of Howell Mountain, this 2018 Castiel Cabernet Sauvignon boasts aromas of fresh blackberry, baking spices, and fragrant black tea. On the palate, the immense structure of this wine is immediately apparent. A delightful core of fresh blueberries and cream lead to prodigious tannins that show density and strength. This tightly wound treasure will dance on your palate with a big New York strip sirloin anytime. Decanting recommended prior to 2025 and built for long term enjoyment through 2030.
Castiel Estate Winery
Celia Welch is one of North America’s most significant winemakers and believes wine
should speak to the unique qualities and characteristics of the vineyard.
She was raised in Oregon where her father, a wine collector and home winemaker, gave
her an introduction to and appreciation for wine. Their father/daughter bond and
shared interest in wine led to her fascination with flavors and aromas and eventually a
degree in Enology from University of California, Davis.
She explored the wine regions of the Pacific Northwest, New Zealand and Australia
before settling in Napa Valley to work in several notable wineries to hone her skills. She
then became an independent winemaker working for clients including Staglin Family
Vineyard, Scarecrow, Keever Vineyards, Barbour, and Lindstrom. Celia also produces
wine under her own critically acclaimed label, Corra.
