Carte Blanche Chardonnay Sonoma Coast 2008
Featuring impeccably balanced ripe tropical fruit from prime Sonoma Coast vineyards comibined with the precision of a great grand cru white Burgundy {not surprising given Morlet’s French roots and experience at Peter Michael}. If you love elegant pineapple, creamy vanilla, and lemon oil characteristics reminiscent of the finest Kistler or even Marcassin Cult Chardonnays. Starting off with notes of pristine citrus, lightly buttered scones , oranges, honeysuckle, and pears are apparent, with the well balanced oak component kept in the background. It builds subtly in the mouth offering massive flavor intensity that crescendos with a finish that features a hint of coconut cream pie. This young Chardonnay will drink well for the next 5-7 years, peaking in 2014 in our estimate.
